For expansion, I've just had to resort to colonization, whatever permanent and/or temporary claims my mission tree's been giving me, and beating up my target's allies as well to make unjustified demands on their land while balancing AE. I've eventually given up on all attempts of espionage and am just shuffling my diplomats on improving relations with my allies and subjects. Caught quite a few spying diplomats myself though, which just seems to underline the point that this act is pointless. Only had a single claim for my land forged in all that time, and it was by some random Muslim who's way too far from me to seriously attack. Whenever I send a diplomat to build up a spy network, it always seems that the klutz gets caught red-handed and kicked out before even a half-year has passed, and I don't get to fabricate any claims at all since he just got caught.ĭoesn't seem to be just a problem with me either since it's approaching 100 years since game start, there's a whole bunch of nations around me who hate my guts and 'would not even trust me to die properly' yet none of them even bothered to fabricate claims on me. You have to send him to your target country to build up a spy network to a certain point in order to even attempt that. But wait, no, your diplomat can't do that right away.
