The end result was the Healing Hands film, workshop and series of sculptures that reveal struggles and share insights on acceptance, humor, gratitude and joy. For the next 5 years, Laurie embarked on a spiritual and creative journey to explore the art of finding peace.
The project would focus on one main question: “How can we find peace despite hardship or loss?”įour non-traditional healers collaborated on the project, contributing their deep personal wisdom gained over a collective 100 years of practice. She envisioned an immersive, restorative experience that combined art, music and film. Then, one night, the idea for the Healing Hands Project descended whole. While the work was cathartic, she felt it was somehow missing the mark. When sculptor/filmmaker Laurie Blakely lost several significant people close to her, she used her art to process her grief.
